No evening sleep
« on: January 14, 2012, 05:22:45 am »
Hi Everyone

Please help. My lo is 4 weeks old and does not want to sleep in the evening. If she gets her bottle at 5 or 6 she doesnt go down until past 11pm. She sleeps fairly well at night, but otherwise we are up and down for at least 6 - 7 hours in the evening. She follows her routine verly well. The shh/patt just doesnt work. She doesnt cry but is very fussy. Does anyone please have advise!

She has wakes or i wake her at 6 or 7 for her bottle, then it is nappy change and a bit of activity. Then i feed her.She then falls asleep very easy.(she is awake for about an 1hour to hour and a half between feeds) Same thing for 9 or 10 bottle. But this week she doesnt want to sleep maybe for at least the next 2 hours or till the next feed. In short her naps in the day is between 1 and half to two hours. All goes fantastic untill the she has to be fed at 6 or 7 and after that she just doesnt sleep!!!!! She moans allot, but is mostly very quiet buy awake. I hope this makes sence. I started her on colief about two weeks ago, because of the evening colic. but she now cries less, but still does not sleep.

Hi hun,

Could you post an entire day's routine for me please?

It would be like this and include the start and finish times of each :)

Given that her naps are a good length during the day, I wonder if she is overstimulated in the evening??  Do you have older kids home from school, husband home from work - the television on etc??

Either way, I wouldn't be too concerned if she isn't crying the whole time... she is just a tiny baby still and could be adjusting to life on the outside still :)  have you tried holding her to see if she will fall asleep in your arms at night?  You don't want to do it all the time and cause a prop, but it may help to understand if she is undertired or not.

HI

No other kids or any of the other mentioned. All that works is letting her sleep in me or my husbands arms. But speaking to my Peadatrician, she as evening colic and a bit of reflux. But thank you for your help and advise. This will hopefully pass!!
