why is it when naps get sorted the night turns to poop?
« on: February 02, 2012, 17:51:23 pm »
seriously Ive had a baby whos STTN for months, then about 3 weeks ago he started NWing, now its about 2-3 times a night. at the moment hes teething but he wasnt at the beginning so why the swap around?

I know he can do it so why doesnt he? Im too scared to leave him with a babysitter becasue he wakes up, sometimes an hour after i put him to bed.

just for an example, heres how yesterday went:

awake 5.30am (yes we are trying to get out this early start)
nap 1 8.30 - 10.20am slept 1 hour 40mins
nap 2 1.20 - 3pm slept 1 hour 40mins
bedtime and asleep at 5.55pm (gave nurofen at bedtime due to teeth)

wake 6.40pm
wake 9pm (fed)
wake 2.45 - 4am (after trying for over an hour i finally just fed him)
wake 6.15am

whats going on here?

How tired is he at BT hun? When did he last have an A increase on that last one? He may need a bit more before BT? I know often ENW are OT, but he is getting good sleep and other than the EW (which is still not bad given his BT) I suspect he may need a bit more first or last A time....what do you think?

Is he high/avge/low sleep needs in your opinion?

Is he nearly 7 months? - There is a developmental week around this time I think :-\

hes only 6mo and 1 week,

hes exhausted and falling asleep on bottle at bedtime, hes average to high A times but not by the end of the day. Ive tried extending that one and its just not doable, hes a mess

his bedtime is ideally 6.30pm but we struggle to get there. he was only awake at 6.15am because he had spent over an hour awake in the night.....

Ahh okay so no extending. Do you know if those teeth are close to cutting? I know when Zs were he was NW a Lot even with pain meds.

Do you leave him in the cot at EW or not really doable? Reason I ask is if you can keep him chilling out in the dark then he may last a touch longer for that first A to get your day back on track.

How is the reflux? Do you think the NW are related to his poop issue AtM?

the teeth are very close to cutting, they have been for three days. we had a perfect day yesterday so I know its not a routine issue. 2x2 hour naps and in bed by 6.30pm. he woke at 11.30pm so I gave him a feed and pain meds. he woke again at 2.45am and it took me 20 full minutes of bum jiggling to get him back to sleep. he woke again at 4.45am and another 20 full mins of bum jiggling and he was jolting alot... he looks like hes got an upset tummy like he did when he was jsut a few weeks old and would be squirming in his bed for hours then we realised it was a dairy intolerance. he was up at 6am but my back is really sore today from trying to get him back to sleep.

I leave him in his cot to talk until he gets upset, cant do it for too long though because he shares a room with his brother.

His reflux is ok but he was quite "spilly" yesterday, more than normal. he doesnt usually spew at all these days and we had quite a few small episodes and a few hiccups as well which we havent had for awhile. I dotn know if the poop issue is rlated but he had pooped this morning at 6am. My nose is blocked so he may well have pooped in the night wioth the NW but i couldnt smell it.
