Sick 7 month old feeding question!
«

Hi there,
My DS is 7 months old and is teething, but on top of that he has a viral infection
! He is on a good EASY routine but because he is sick his appetite has decreased. He is now only taking a few spoons at breakfast, lunch and dinner. He is having no problems drinking his bottles though, which he has 3 times a day. My queststion is should I increase his formula while he is sick? I have been giving him a little water here and there so he doesn't dehydrate.
Many thanks

If you think he needs it offer more milk. How much is he taking in 24 hours normally, at this age 4 bottles a day is the suggested amount, they don't usually drop to 3 until about 9/10 months.
Hope he recovers soon!

Hi Laura,
He is taking 3 8oz bottles a day. He was on 4 but I found he was never interested in his 11am bottle. Our health nurse says once he's getting a pint of milk a day that's fine. He seems much perkier now but still a wee bit off form. Fingers crossed tomorrow he will be better.
Thanks a mill

A bit on the same note... My soon to be 6 month old has been teething, has a bad cold and a double ear infection... Yay
for about 5 days now he won't drink more than 5-6 oz per bottle sometimes even 4oz (he was previously taking 8-9) and barely eats at his meals... He's always been on a good easy and I was able to eliminate the DF early because he was eating so much during the day (see previous posts). He almost 19lbs... But I'm sure is less now... Last night for the first time he woke up at 430 starving and didn't fall asleep until 530ish... Should I bring back the DF or wait out the illnesses till his appetite comes back? I'm worried he's not eating enough and don't know how to get him to eat more during the day without screwing things up too much... And making him a snacker by offering a few oz every 30-60 min... He just won't eat!! Help!!
