no more dreamfeed
« on: March 10, 2012, 22:57:52 pm »
Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any advice or support.

I used to give my daughter a dreamfeed at 9;30 everynight (and she slept beautifully on the whole). I dropped the dreamfeed about 2 months ago and we did it as follows...

first few days - less milk
next few days - water instead of milk
final few days - quick suck on the dummy

it went really well and now she's never hungry at 9;30. I have just one problem... she still habitually wakes at 9;30. She doesnt take much to go back to sleep - just a quick shhhh pat but she still needs me to go into her room and wont fall back to sleep by herself.

what can i do to eliminate the habitual 9:30 wake? will it just stop? I try really hard to make my response quiet, quick and low impact. I dont switch the lights on, don't pick her up, dont feed her and yet she's still waking.

any advice?

incase it's important... her daytime routine is as follows
wake 7am
nap 9pm for 45 mins- 1hr
12;30 - 2 - lunchtime nap
bed at 6;30

Have you tried w2s? This helped fix our ENW around this time...

thanks so much for your reply. i'd love to give this a try. If she goes to bed at 6:30 and usually wakes between 9 and 9;30, what time should I W2s?

Well that sounds like Z when we did it so FXed it works for you :)

Wht I did was went in about 1hr prior to the waking. For us it was always 2.5hrs after BT so I knew to do it at 1.5. Some people find their LO wakes at a 'time' though rather than a period of time - in which case ou go for ~1hr before that time. I would maybe try 8ish first if your not 100% sure on which way she goes.

All you do is sneak in and stir her, I used to brush Z's cheek then duck and hide if he stirred a lot ;) if he just did a sigh or rolled over or seemed to come of of deep sleep I then left and crossed my fingers! Once time it woke him ,but he resettled himself and didnt wake at the usual time.

Good luck and let me know how you get on .... also see below for more W2S info if you need it :-*
