45 min naps need to end!
« on: March 15, 2012, 14:42:07 pm »
Alyssa is almost 5 months now :o and I said I won't try to fix her 45 min nap problem until it started affecting her additude and night sleeping. Well it has the last 3 nights she has gotten up 4-5 times between 7:30-9:30pm unable to put herself back to sleep as she is so OT and is waking up at 6:30am instead of 7am. Last night I turned the baby moniter up full balst and found out she gets up play for half an hour THEN calls out for me I think that explains part of the problem AKA way too long 1st A time. I have been extending bottles from 3hrs to 4 hours will mild success too as she wakes cause it's the 3 hr mark and wants to eat (but won't finish the bottle since she is not really hungry).
Here is her day as it has been for the last 3 days :
7am- calls me (found out she actually gets up at 6:30am)
7:30-7oz bottle
9am- down for nap (takes less then 3 minutes and she is out)
9:45-up and cranky
10:30-6 baby spoons of pear and 1oz of water
11:15-11:30-7oz bottle
11:45-nap
12:30-up and cranky
2:30-nap
3:15-up and cranky
3:30-7oz bottle
5:15- force nap maybe get 20 mintes
6:30- bath/bottle
7-7:15 bed

She sometimes does a 3hr a time for the last one and passes right out but I know she is so OT by the end of the day from lack of sleep. I am really trying to get her on a routine more for her age not a 2.5-3 month old!!
Any help would be great :D

I would give her first A time a 15 min bump and see what happens ;)  Looks like she is in that dreaded UT/OT loop we all hate so much ;)

I see that she does go down easily, but this could just be a habit... push her for a couple days and see if her first nap pushes out :)

I put my toddler to bed early last nightso I got up with her at 6am and waited till 7:30am on the dot and woke Alyssa up so I knew what time she opened her eyes! Will put her to bed at 9:45am and hope she sleeps a hour.

I hate teething more than anything in this world hun... molars here for the last 3 weeks.  Gross.

Have you medicated her to see if she will nap a bit longer?  Ibuprofen is far better than Tylenol...

Found the all natural teething meds that I used with Em when she was ALyssa's age, they stopped making them for a while and now they are back in a new box (my sister found them at the health food store and I bought them right away). So gave them to her before last nap yesterday and she slept 2 hrs. Ok that could be a fluke right? but gave them again before this nap (1st nap) and we are at the 1hr and 10 min. mark and not a peep.
And yes I will be going out again today and buying a stock pile of them to last till she is 2!!

LOL!  Hylands Teething Tablets?  I ALWAYS keep some around... it was horrible when they were all recalled!

Me too!  In fact, I think DD ate about 6 in the few hours before bedtime... I find that they really do make a difference for her!
