Feeds in the night then not hungry in the morning?
« on: April 14, 2012, 08:28:30 am »
Never had this with Stan - how do you deal with it?

Aud woke at 5am and because it was so close to morning I was sure to give only a small feed - 5 mins, one side. It's now 9.30am and nearly time for her nap and she's had no more and won't let me bring her NEAR the breast!

Should I try and resettle without feeding at that time? I do rush in if it's 5am or later because if Stan gets woken up at 5 I doubt he would go back to sleep.

I had this exact same thing with Sofia.  It was then having a knock on effect on the rest of the day's feeding routine, even when I'd reduced the 5am feed down,  so we did go ahead and resettle without the feed. We had a sippy cup on standby in case she needed a drink, but for the most part she resettled very quickly... After a couple of nights she would just wake up and do a little fuss then just chatter quietly for maybe for 10-20mins then went back off to sleep. All told it took about a week for her to naturally stretch out and sleep through.  Good luck. xxx

Anna what time is wake up then, after that 5am resettle? Have you tried offering as soon as she wakes for the day and is more sleepy?

This morning she woke up at 7.30, wake up can be anything from 6.30-7.30. When I went and got her she was 180 in the cot and doing crawling practise to had obviously been awake for a while! I offered her in the dark/quiet nursery but she wasn't interested...
