6.5 month old breastfed and weaning routines
« on: May 02, 2012, 11:44:14 am »
I am exclusively breastfeeding a 6.5 month old baby, she is on 3 meals a day and a mixture of BLW and purees. Although she was v interested in the beginning i do find that at lunch she doesnt appear as hungry as she used to be, also sometimes at tea. My BF are 7am, 10.30am, 2.15pm, 5pm and 6.30pm. I tend to do solids at 8am, 11.15am and 5.30pm. Just wondering what other people's routines are and if anyone can help me with her appetite. The problem is she defintely wants the boob before the solids and she only takes no more than 8-10mins. Do you think I should withold?! Thanks!

Hi there, at 6mo milk is the absolute first and most important source of nutrition for babe, she needs that before the solids, and not to fill up on solids in place of milk. I would hold back on the solids a bit (don't feel you have to stop but 3 meals is a fair bit at 6mo) and also try spacing her feeds slightly, if you need help sorting her EASY please feel free to post. And feeding 8-10 mins sounds perfectly normal at this age :)
