5am feed...thinking about formula for 12.5mo
« on: May 04, 2012, 21:40:16 pm »
hey everyone...

so I am tired, beyond tired...so forgive me if this gets a bit rambly/emotional

so DD is 13m next week...(wow!!) we still have rubbish naps and after her 5am(ish) feed, she will often not settle backl in her cot, so I snuggle her and she will resettle.

fine in itself, but I am not going back to sleep...(how do people co-sleep with a wriggly/snoring lo??? ;D) so in addition to NW and sturrgling through the day I could do with a bit more sleep...

Anyhow, DH and I were talking and I was thinking of letting him try to give her a bottle of formula at her 5am ish feed...I always struggled with expressing and I dont really want to get into it.
She is definatley still needing this as last night she fed ealier at 3am and didnt wake until 6.30am. I reasured me this IS hunger not a habbit

she eats solids really well (although has her off days like most of us)

has anyone tried introduing formula at this late stage?

I haven't tried formula at this age but wondering if you could just do cows milk? Still up to DH, though :P

Personally, I don't think I'd bother with formula at this stage.  Could she be a bit thirsty rather than hungry per se at around 5ish?  Do you think she might object to water?  Or cows' milk?

Hi ladies,

I guess we could try both options.... Very scared about 5am turning into a disaster!!!

I was hoping to let dd drop this feed..... Is that likely, or do I need to encourage her?

My DD dropped her NFs by around the stage that you are at.  Any way a routine tweak might help with the EWs? (not that I'm any sort of expert there!!)

Hi Amanda,

Things veeerrrry bumpy last night so we haven't had chance to tackle it.... She didn't eat much for tea was massively ot by bt so we had a nice 2hr nw!!!!!! During this we did water and nappy and she " asked" for a feed.... She then skipped 5am and wu for day 6.30...

We are off to Portugal  in 10 days so think we might need to tackle it then....

Thanks for checking in

Hmmmm tried just water at 5.45am and she took a tiny bit but still cried for milk...(bt was 7.50 with a drink at a brief 12pm nw)

Is there a point where I say enough???.... She is still eating her solid breakfast ok

Puzzled...

Would it be worth having a post on http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?board=34.0 to see if the ladies there can give you any tweaks that might help with the EW?  I'd try, but seriously I'm useless at that stuff!!
