Need advice for 10 week old waking at night
« on: July 04, 2012, 12:44:43 pm »
My lo was sleeping through the night at around 8 weeks and we were thrilled!!! However, last week (last Tues) he got his shots. Last week was the worst week since he was born! It was like he was a different child! He is much better this week, thank goodness, but he has yet to go back to sleeping through the night. He wakes up 2-3 times a night crying. He is not hungry or wet, everything appears to be fine. We don't rush in, we wait a bit to see if he can fall back asleep but he doesn't! We go in and shush/pat and put his paci back in. Sometimes he wakes up only 20-30 min later! Any advice?

The effects of the shots can last a little while.  My DS got a full torso rash 10 days after his shots, the same happened at later shots (11 days after the shots).  Both times I thought he was 'over' the effects of the shots only to be proven wrong.  he might be much better during hte day but still bothered at night iyswim.

Hi,

I was signing in with the exact same concern - 10 weeks and was sleeping great until 3 nights ago when he started waking 2x :( I hadnt thought about the shots but he also has the body rash and is not a great napper right now either.

Did it pass for you little one...anything special that you did?

Thanks, Julie

I gave the max dose of paracetamol (which is very little at that age) and a lot of cuddles.  Follow cues for eating and sleeping as they might be more hungry or thirsty so need an extra breast or bottle feed and might need an earlier nap or for longer despite being restless or not sleeping well.
Obviously if you are ever concerned about a body rash you should take LO to a GP.
