Evenings
« on: July 26, 2012, 11:39:59 am »
Hello I was wondering if someone could take a look at our normal daily routine my LO is 7 weeks old and we are not doing too bad however I am struggling to get him down in the evenings due to overtiredness (I think). He is a text book type baby and in the morning he self settles for naps in his cot in a dark bedroom and is no problem. He dosent really cry much unless he is overtired. I don't think he's hungry because he's breastfed and gaining weight great in fact he's chubby :)  He also uses a dummy

7am wake up - feed

8am down for a sleep

10.30am wake up and feed

11.30 - back to sleep

1.15 - awake and feed ( I did his bath now while my toddler was having a nap)

2.30 back to sleep

3.30 - awake and feed

4.30 looking tired but wont sleep and wont self settle

5.00 fed but still wont sleep (starting to look overtired with hyper alert bug eyes)

5.30 - 20 minute nap while I rocked him

7.30pm finally fed and rocked to sleep

he will usually wake around midnight and 4am overnight and feed and settles well.

Hi hon- sorry we missed this!

So- are you waking for the feeds in the day? At 3.30 did you wake him or did he wake himself?

Often babies up to about 12 weeks can be really fussy in the afternoon/evening period- some more than others. Are you doind a wind down? Do you swaddle? Things are looking pretty good otherwise though!! Don't be afraid of putting him in a carrier or swing int hat evening period to keep him happy and maybe heep him less stimulated.

He wakes at around 3.30pm most days are simmilar, still having probs in the evening. I think he is getting overstimulated, I have discovered that he will take a nap at around 5pm if I carry him in the sling. Last night he settled better at 7pm after having a sleep between 5-6pm in the sling.
