Admittedly I Have only started to try EASY this week, and so far have been demand feeding my 8 week old little girl. Her normal pattern was to cry for smallish feeds which sent her to sleep and then snooze on a cushion in the living room with me during the day. If she ever got distressed she went straight for my boob to calm her down. She seemed very happy with this, but I thought it was about time time we got into more of a routine (and was conscious of becoming a human dummy!) and so have just started trying EASY.
She is still falling asleep happily after each feed so then I have to wake her and gets really upset when I swaddle her during the day for a nap in her cot (sleeps fine in cot at night though). I tried the shh pat to get her to sleep after the "A". But she gets really distressed and just roots for my nipple, eventually tearfully falling asleep, but seems unhappy. Should I persist?

Have you seen this?  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=65842.0
Some good advice for getting started.  You might try to work on pat/shh and sleeping in the cot for just one nap and just let her nurse to sleep for the rest of them or sleep where she can.  Will she sleep ok after nursing to sleep or not?  Some babies will sleep fine despite nursing to sleep (my ds was one of those).

This link on gradual weaning might help you too -- it's written for use with a paci, but it's kind of the same idea

Speaking of, will she take one at all?  None of mine ever would, but if she's got a strong need to suck, they can be quite helpful.
