Hi, just wanted to check that I was doing it correctly as its not giving me the result I was
hoping for.  My LO is 12 wks old and has got into the pattern of going to sleep at 8:30 - 9:30 ish for up to 5hrs (the night before last it was nearly 7 hrs  :) then I feed her and she is back for 3hrs sleep. Last night I thought I would start giving her a dreamfeed of a bottle at 11pm (normally I breastfeed), she went to sleep a bit earlier than normal at 8pm, but instead of sleeping 5 - 7hrs she only managed 3hrs waking at 2ish.  Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
Many thanks
Annie

Hi, it often takes a few days for the df to "take" and for it to start working.  I'd keep trying it for a few days and see if things change before you think of dropping it again.

ok great, that fills me with hope  :)
I forgot to say, she only took about 90ml, and for her weight (13 lbs) and age i think it should be 190 -200ml.  could
that be why, so should I try and get her to drink more?  Also if she wakes after 2-3hrs again should I try and get her back to sleep without feeding her? at the moment she does always need a sleepy feed to sleep though at night she is quite good at putting herself to sleep when she wakes after I have put her down but she is refusing a dummy which doesn't help.  thanks again.

I'm not so good at amounts, but I think that 90 mL wouldn't be too little -- 190-200 sounds like a lot for a 12 week old.  I might give it a few days before messing with anything else -- then after a few days I would probably try to resettle at that first waking and see if that gets your anywhere.  Or, you could do a quick attempt at a resettle after 2-3 hours (I used to try to walk them around for a few minutes or maybe rock them to sleep), but don't persist for long.

Sometimes you just end up in the wrong stage of sleep - trying 15 minutes earlier or later might help.
