When to add 3rd meal
« on: September 09, 2012, 02:41:43 am »
DS is 7 mo old yesterday and has been on 2 solid feeds since 3 weeks ago (started solids at 5.5 months). He is eating breakfast and dinner because he is in daycare from 9-2pm and it was easier not to prepare food for daycare. He loves his solids and I am wondering if it's ok to start lunch solids now? Am starting BW today as his NW are horrendous (4-8x a night!), naps are 40 mins and he can't self soothe to sleep. He is so far on a 3 hr easy and taking 5oz of ebm at daycare and I DL other times. Hoping to slowly transition to a 4hr easy and increase his ebm to 6oz.

Do your daycare not provide food?

I would say it's fine to increase to 3 meals as long as he's still having plenty of milk.

Having been through having a monster who would wake loads, I really recommend using Pick Up Put Down to get the number of wakings down.  It's pretty tough and hard work for 3 nights but after that you will see improvement.
