16 months and still feeding at night
« on: September 10, 2012, 15:29:25 pm »
Hello ladies!  We have been struggling with out lo sleeping at night.  I am not sure if this fits on this board so feel free to move if needed!!  We bf until about 14 months and since she has weaned herself from the breast we have been giving cows milk in a bottle.  We always did the df around 10 or 11pm and now we are still doing it  I know she really does not need it, but she will wake like clock work if we do not go in.  In the mornings she is not at all interested in eating breakfast and that throws our whole day off.  Another issue is that she goes to bed around 7pm and wakes around 7am for the day.  She has been taking a nap around 10am and eating lunch when she gets up at about 12:30.  I am trying to figure out how to push her nap a little later and do lunch earlier.  We have been really bad with teaching to self soothe and she has a bottle of milk before bed and usually falls asleep.  Thinks brings concerns about teeth as well.  We brush several times a day, but I am also worried because she still takes milk at night.  I really need some advice sorting this out!!  Thanks!!

Can you try to do the DF a little earlier every few nights and with a little less in the bottle each time?
We are just pushing our nap to 11am and I do 2 big snacks either side of the nap as Lunch is just too early or too late.

We have been pushing the feedings earlier with less in the bottle and it seems to be going ok.  We had a couple of NW but were able to rock back to sleep without feeding.  She still will not eat breakfast!  Do you think it is from the calories she gets at night??

Maybe. See how she does as the df goes. Are you putting less at all? Does she drink milk in the morning? My 2 both eat little 1st thing and so I wait a good HR before breakfast after they get up.

Yes.  We are reducing the amount slowly.  The one issue I have is that I will be going back to work soon and I will not be able to wait as long to give her breakfast.  I will keep offering it and she how she does as the df goes away!  Thanks
