One Month Old Naps
« on: September 28, 2012, 23:03:45 pm »
Hello,
After my little guys first afternoon nap I feed him when he wakes and try to have a little activity after but he just continues to sleep for 2+hrs. Should I be trying to keep him up after feeding or let him go right back to sleep? He is just starting to sort out days and nights so I dont want him to sleep all day and then have me up all night!

Thanks

How long is he feeding for? Most LO's this age spend all their A time eating and then a quick nappy change and maybe 5mins of chatting/cuddling and they're back asleep again - normal :)

A time is eyes open to eyes shut and would be maybe 45min at this stage.

My 5 week old is similar many days - she fights naps in the morning but in the afternoons she often wakes from one only to feed and fall right back asleep in my arms - often I don't even change her nappy in between, she is just out to it. I don't find it keeps her awake at night any more than a day where she is more wakeful during the afternoon. Sometimes it's only a short catnap, less than an hour, and she wakes for another feed by which time it's 6pm or so and I figure she's cluster feeding. At this age there seems no rhyme or reason so I just let her sleep, it's nice to have a nap that starts naturally :)
