wake to sleep questions...what am I doing wrong?
« on: October 22, 2012, 10:55:48 am »
My LO wakes up like clockwork at that 45 minute mark. I have played with activity times ranging the time from 2 hours to 3 hours...all with the same results, at that 45 minute eyes pop open. We have tried eliminating the cat nap. She is almost 6 months old. I have been doing a combination of wake to sleep and just hanging nearby when its close to the 45 minute so I can rush in and try to shush pat before she fully wakes. This seems to work some of the time but sometimes she is so awake it either takes me 20 minutes to get her back down or she never goes back. Whenever I do wake to sleep it always seems to backfire. She always fully wakes up and then I either spend that 20 something minutes trying to get her back or again she never goes back to sleep. I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I just gently rub her back to make her stir but then those eyes always pop open.

My other question is how long does it take for WTS to show success. I have been doing it with the combination of just catching her at that wake up time before she fully wakes and shush patting for almost a month and she still wakes up at 45 minutes.

If she's fully waking, I think you're leaving it too late. I'd try going in 10 mins sooner. You need to catch her when she's in a deep sleep.

As Anna says ;)
Here's a link that may help. How do I address habitual wakings? (wake-to-sleep and other methods)
If your getting 45 mins maybe try at 33 mins
For 35 min naps try ~23 mins x
