When did PPAF return...
« on: October 20, 2012, 22:33:20 pm »
DS is 9 months and is still breastfed (gets small meals of solids too). In the last 3ish weeks I have been feeling "weird" some PMS like symptoms and some pregnancy type symptoms such as tired, head-achy, nauseous at times, moody at times, twinges in ovary area, lower back pain, etc. I thought I might be pregnant as I think I have ovulated once (but hear that first few times when you have EWCM that can be non-fertile or your cycle will not be long enough to carry pregnancy, etc.) but after many negative tests, I think my body might just be gearing up for AF's return.

When did you get first PPAF?
Do you remember how long you felt PMS symptoms or "weird" before PPAF actually showed?

Thanks!

I'd bet it's AF, too.  With DS (was ff at 3mo+), AF came back at 5mo, then regularly at 8mo.  With DD (still bfing), AF came back at 7mo, every month since.

Got mine at 4 months PP exactly - almost to the minute.

Not sure about feeling weird though... still was slowly recovering from c-section and having twinges from that as well as struggling with BF so didn't really notice any additional tiredness, headaches or anything :-\

Not much help, eh?

AF didn't come back with any of mine until they were pretty much not BFing anymore (which meant that it took until ds was 16 months old for it to come back this time....not that I minded all that much!) -- anyway, this most recent time, I did have strong symptoms (though more AF-like and less pregnancy-ish) so it could always be that.  I think it's been such a long time that your body does react pretty strongly to it (in my case, it was over 2 years since I had last had AF)!

Mine came back at around 5mo, out of the blue too, no PMS but very heavy. Then the 2nd AF came at 7mo but a normal one this time.

8 months and 2 days (I still keep a record!) here.  I think it just appeared out of the blue (was gutted there wasn't a longer break, honestly!) and has been even more irregular than before and heavier :(

Your symptoms could be AF starting to return and your body getting used to that again.

Mine were back at 3 mon. With DS and 4 mon. With DD. They are a little more irregular than before and with this one especially I have had some of the feelings you described. I even took a pregnancy test once because some of the feelings felt so similar to pregnancy symptoms. So seems normal to me :)

Erin- 2 years! I could only dream of such a break!
