Cluster feeding and/or dream feed
« on: November 08, 2012, 19:13:36 pm »
I have a 10 week old daughter with reflux and colic. She is currently eating at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and then somewhere between 3:00am-4:45am. I'd like to eliminate the night feed so that she doesn't get used to waking in the middle of the night. Being that she has reflux I am a little nervous about trying one or both of these strategies.
Anyone have any experience with reflux and cluster feeding and/or dream feeding?

Hi Hun...

She is too young to wean any feeds.  As a general rule, you don't actively wean night feeds unless they are habitual - this won't generally happen until LO is well established on solids.

At 10 weeks, a dream feed plus 2 night feeds would be totally normal - so you are doing well :)

eliminate the night feed so that she doesn't get used to waking in the middle of the night

She isn't waking from habit, she's hungry.  Feed her.
