Baby wakes up after 5 mins in crib..help
« on: November 08, 2012, 01:26:12 am »
Hi everyone!
I am posting this on behalf of a friend who doesn't have access to the internet but needs help.
Her daughter is almost 2 months old she has been rocking her to sleep but says that after she puts Ada in her crib she wakes up after only 5 mins.
How should she go about getting a baby this small to sleep and switching her over to BW and what can she do to have her stay asleep in her crib..
Thank you!
Sarah

She is probably not rocking her into a deep sleep so when she moves her LO she stirs and eyes pop open ;)
Typically they have25 mins prospect of light sleep then move into a deeper sleep, this is when they are not easily woken. I she wants to continue to AP she will likely need to PD after 25 mins or make sure when she does pd she is doing so very carefully!

All that said, if she is ready to encourage independent sleep, or start teaching it when her LO stirs/wakes if she is the she can then shh/pat her LO back to sleep. This can take time but is usually quite effective around 8-10 weeks.

Has she read any of Tracey's books? Getting one out from the library or borrowing/buying and reading it may help. There is a to of info on here too, on the faqs on the easy and sleep boards :D
