set routine during the 2-1
« on: November 25, 2012, 04:01:53 am »
We used set nap/bed times for DD when transitioning to 2 naps from 3 and it worked.  Was wondering if anyone has tired this for 1 nap a day?  Would it be a good/bad idea?
DD1 was so incredibly touchy with her A times that 15min over and she was an OT mess.  the 2-1 with her was AWFUL!!!!!!!!  But DD2 seems to be so completely different in that she doesn't seem to be as affected by OT as DD1 was.  Would love to try a set nap time for 1 nap a day so I don't have to worry about A times.
DD1 (1/09)
DD2 (10/11)
DD3 (3/15)

It depends on the LO in my experience. If your lo is touchy then I would not advise it but otherwise it can be a good way to set their body clock especially if you say she does not suffer too much from OT.

I'd always gone on A times before the 2-1 but found set times the only way to get through the 2-1 it helped my DS learn his new routine much better than never knowing when he was going for a nap.  I think it's a really good idea.  I'd be careful of being too set with BT simply because EBT can become the regular thing with the 2-1 until the nap begins to lengthen and gradually the EBT can return to BT.  Even so, you can have an 'almost set' EBT/BT.
I think patience and low expectations are key in the 2-1.
