I'm trying to implement easy for my 13w old son. We used shush pat when he was a newborn to get him to sleep at night and it had worked wonders. We do manage to get him to sleep ok at night but are having a nightmare working out his ideal length of awake time to put him down for a nap. We read about picking up on sleepy cues (rubbing eyes, yawning etc) and listen to his cries and then put him down. Without fail he screams, so we assumed he was OT. We put him down at the very start of the cues and he still cries, so we put it down to being UT. we go through shush pat at all times, but as soon as we put him down to continue the shush patting, he screams. I'm ok leaving him making grumpy grizzly noises and whiny cries, just not full crying where his face turns red.
Take the morning after eating and awake time, he's giving off sleepy cues after being awake for only an hour. He did the same yesterday but we thought it was too early to put him down but within ten minutes it was full ok OT crying. Today we put him down at the start of the cues and again, get crying and fighting sleep.
He also only naps for about 30 minutes at a time, again, I'm unsure if this is because he's UT or OT.
We are just trying to introduce a 3 hourly easy but its being more of a 2.5 hour easy. As for personality, he's mainly textbook but with a bit of grumpy thrown in.
Has anybody got any advice?
