Mid day naps too short
« on: January 02, 2013, 04:50:53 am »
Hello,

DS is 5 weeks. He sleeps great at night and goes down no problem for first morning nap. He usually sleeps 2-2.5 hours for first nap. Then things get short, 20-45 mins is all I can get for the next 2-3 attempts. By 3-4 pm we've only had maybe 1-2 hours of sleep if lucky. Then around 4:30-5 he goes down no problem, gets up for evening routine an is in bed by 7-7:30 pm. Given that we keep his routine for going to sleep the same, any ideas as to how to extend or get rid of those short mid day naps.

Next question, do people wake LO up at a certain time?? Like a max nap of 2 hours or should I wait till DS is a bit older first??

Thanks muchly,

Peachy!

hi hon- Generally i let a LO sleep for 3 hours or so at a time. Some people suggest after about 6 months or so to ake them after 2- but my guy often did more than that and was fine.

How long is your current A time?

I'd say our current A time is 45-50 minutes... I'm still trying to get a handle on his cues as he will yawn during his feed, usually when he pops off to burp. He's a really grunty baby and wiggles non stop even when sleeping so it's hard to read him... I'm currently trying new swaddle techniques as he's consistently getting out of just a regular swaddle!!
