4months old and still feeding 2 hourly
« on: January 18, 2013, 21:56:20 pm »
Hi there my lo is still feeding 2 hourly at 4 months! I have tried extending the feeds but she is a 5 minute feeder then fights me. I have been told this is normal from the HV. And sometimes she will want fed after 1 and a half hours. Any suggestions?

Is it because she is having short naps? I found we were feeding much more often until we were getting decent naps.

Are there any other issues other than 2 hourly feeds, like reflux or pain?

Just a thought, as she is only sucking for 5mins at a time she may not be emptying the breast fully and so not getting enough hind milk, which is the fatty rich calorie milk that keeps them fuller for longer. Try feeding from the same breast a few feeds, I have read that this is called block feeding...http://www.mother-2-mother.com/blockfeeding.htm. Maybe discuss this with your HV.
