9 mo 2-1 nap transition ALREADY?
« on: February 03, 2013, 05:33:13 am »
My LO turned 9 months today and for the occasion, he skipped his first nap entirely and slept from about 12:45-2:30 with a 20 min wake-up in the middle. He woke up exhausted and wouldn't take a catnap anytime before bed. Only around 5:30 did he return to his happy self.

For the last couple of weeks his sleep has been all over the place. He slept for a month from 6:00pm to 8:00am and woul take two 2-hour naps from 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-4:00. Now it looks more like 6:30pm-7:00am and naps from 10-11am and 2-3pm. But he wakes from his naps tired and cranky and he is majorly OT by the end of the day. And more recently, he has been waking at night, which he hasn't done since 6 months. And sometimes he doesn't go back to sleep for an hour! I miss my sleep!

We've had it pretty great for a while, but now I don't know what to do! Is he changing his sleep because he wants to drop a nap? Or is this just a developmental thing?

What do I do??
TIA

Wow! That is a lot of sleep. Sounds like a GS to me, my DD did similar over Xmas.

Well 6.30pm-7am is an AWESOME night so that may be part of the reason he does not nap more than 2 hours in the day. Tricky one as i am not one for waking lo's who like their night sleep tbh but if he is getting OT then you may need to cut the night sleep a little. He won't be ready to drop a nap so don't worry about that. I think you could try pushing the first A out a little to more like 10.30am and see how he does with that. Then we can take it from there. What do you think?
