how much breastmilk (pumped) for 4 month old?
« on: January 29, 2013, 16:37:45 pm »
Hi,

I pump breast milk for my 4 month old. Usually she eats 4 1/2 - 5 oz every 4 hours. she eats 6 times a day. this includes a 4am feed that she wakes up for.

she weighs 14.5 pounds.

Is this enough???  sometimes she can't finish 5 oz and sometimes she wants more than 5 oz.

just want to know what other people are giving. maybe if i give more, she will not wake up for a 4am feed?

Hi there!

There's some info on that here: http://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/milkcalc/
I'll also say that it's totally normal for a baby (regardless of feeding method) to be waking overnight for a feed at 4 months.

That sounds like plenty of milk in terms of her getting enough. If she drains the bottle are you offering more? I'd maybe offer another ounce.
