My baby hardly sleeps in day
« on: February 03, 2013, 19:43:32 pm »
Hi,

I have just had my second daughter and am starting to think about when I'll get her onto Easy like I did with my first daughter.

I've been at least trying to feed, nappy change, then have her have some awake time. And then my problems start. She then often won't go back to sleep or if she does it's usually only for 10 mins and then she just screams and screams and screams. Rooting around for me again. Even if it's only been half hour since last feed.

Do you think 11 days is just too young fe this and that I should just feed her to sleep and not wake her etc.

It's getting me really down and I end up crying with her every time as I feel like a bad mum with no clue what to do for her!!

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Kristy x

At 11 days I would just be doing what you need to to get her to sleep tbh. She is so so young.

What A time are you working to? At this age it is really really short. I would imagine that by the time she has finished feeding she would be ready to sleep. Feeding is their activity time at this age so she is likely OT.

Is she swaddled? Does she have a dummy?

I'm no expert but I honestly wouldn't worry abut A times at this age you'll just make yourself nuts. Just feed and let her sleep whenever she wants. Don't try to keep her awake for an A time she's so young if she falls alseep while eating that's ok at 11 days old. As for sleep you can put her in a sling or wrap as you walk around the house etc usually the motion and heat from you will put them to sleep. Does she sleep better at night? No instances of back arching or spilling signs of discomfort or pain?

yes that is why I said to make sure it is very short and to feed and then let her sleep.

Ok thank you both. I had already come to the conclusion last night that today I would just do what I could to make her sleep. Sobive switched back to mappy before feed and letting we sleep after feed. And it's meant we've had a lovely day, she's usually happy while I change we nappy, and then she has feed and slept lots all day. On me and daddy this morning for 2 hours, on me and then in cot for 1.5 hours, on me and in pram for 1.5 hours, and then car seat for 45 mins. Compared to the weekend this was much better.

I think when you get used to having a routine and easy etc with one child you automatically want to start it with the next. But I'll wait a little bit longer then switch it all around again.

Thanks

Great job. As she goes you'll start to see patterns emerge. I found it helpful to keep a log starting around week 3/4 and by week 6 things started emerging that made it easeir to figure out his A time etc.
