do you think i can try and ditch the night feed?
« on: February 01, 2013, 05:49:48 am »
My dd is 4.5 months. She sleeps from 7-4, no df. But after 4 she does a 1.5 hour nap and then wakes up the house with happy squeals. Is it too early to try and bump her over the 4am feed? And bf her at 6.30? If not, how would you do it?

Hi hon- Th happy waking at 4.30 sounds like the start of the 3-2 nap transition that you would start with increasing the a time. They wake at that time as they are not tired enough to stay asleep!! HAve a read of this:

All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

Hmmm, you don't think that's too early? This is my first girl though and I have heard that girls tend to sleep less. My boys all sleep like logs. My 2.5 year old still does 2-3 hour naps and happily goes to bed from 7-7. Pure bliss ;)

Emma was def on the 3-2 at this age....would you not try the DF? Even straight from breast?

It worked a dream for us and we had blissfull 7-11(DF)-7 from 10weeks, never looked back!

Emma definately needs less sleep than Oscar ever has but gives herself all she needs iykwim? 2-1 at 9-10mths, 1-0 at 24 mths even!

True, I would start by pushing the A time. Shivi, this little girl does not do well with a DF. I could try it again I suppose, but it used to wake her up more. So without DF, she would sleep 7-3 or 4. With DF, she'd be up every 3 hours, (10-1-4) it's like I am taking her out of her deep sleep or something and wreck everything.

That's fine, DF doesn't work for everyone - we never did one here :)

How's her daytime routine looking at the moment?

10pm was always too early for mine at this age and older. I did 11pm or even a tad later with a 7pm bedtime feed.
