confused and frustrated--short naps and tired cues
« on: February 06, 2013, 15:55:13 pm »

Hi,

i've been trying to figure out my 4 month olds right A time for the past month, with no success. Still taking 30-45 min naps.

I thought i had it at 1hour 25 min put down + soothe time. Sometimes it takes her 10-15 min to soothe and other times it takes 45min! I don't understand if she is tired or not???

If she doesn't show tired cue signs, do i keep her up longer?? I tried this once and she wailed!!!

Maybe i'm not doing this right? or maybe I don't understand her tired cue signs

right now for example, i put her down at 1 hr 30 min bc she yawned and rubbed her eyes...it has been 25 min and she is cooing and whimpering. i thought she was tired??

she wakes up still 30-45 min later, sometimes cry and sometimes happy...(with 1 hr 25 min put down + 20 min soothe)

what am i doing wrong???

Maybe i should just keep it as 30-45 min naps and not stress about this anymore....its taking over my life!! Mu husband thinks we should keep her up until she is realllllly tired...2-21/2 hrs, but i disagree.

Hi there,
At this age the usual A time is 1.45-2 hours so it is likely she is UT. I would not wait for tired signs tbh, neither of mine were very reliable with them and I found DD was OT by the time she yawned.
Have you got a consistent wind down? Do you know what type she is?

I have to say 4 months is a terrible time for naps and a lot of it is developmental although that does not help when you are right in the middle of it.
