If that's working for you right now, I'd keep going with it.  Once you start working on IS, the naps might get longer.  Good luck weaning the swaddle.  How are you doing it?

I used APOP to teach DD to transition during naps, so it can work for sure.  I didn't put her in the crib at all though, she napped on my chest during the day once she moved to two naps at about 5 months... after a couple of weeks, she was transitioning without any wiggling/rubbing etc from me, so I started putting her in the crib - rarely had to intervene with shush/pat.

Hi- what is IS?

Wanted to wean swaddle with 1 arm our for a while, but due to safety, did it all at once (in Halo sleep sack, folded velcro parts around belly with arms out). Having a much harder time settling to sleep for naps and bedtime and overnight after bottles, but getting better with each day. Wonder how long it will take to get back to normal. Being very careful to prevent OT by using APOP right now to get good daytime naps.

Any other ideas?

IS is independent sleep - going to sleep without any props or assistance.

Have you tried holding his arms at his side as he falls asleep?

Oh, thanks. Yes, I have held down his arms, and that helps him settle, but sometimes when he is having a hard time settling I have stood there for 15 minutes, and as soon as I let go he moves them and wakes up and starts crying. But its getting better.

Thanks!

I used a Halo Sleep Sack swaddle too hun... And I did one arm out even when she could roll (I just made sure that the other arms was not really snug, so she could get it out fairly easily). It only took a week or so with one arm out to go ahead with it around her belly... DD actually started sleeping on her tummy when I stopped swaddling her...
