Hello, we are very new to the EASY routine and already I can see just how beneficial it is but we are having problems with the evenings and latter part of the night.  Can you show me where I am going wrong and how I can make things better please?

Wake up 7am

Sleep - 8.30 in cot - swaddled until no later than 10/10am

S 11 - 11.30 (she has been getting tired earlier than the 11.30 slot so I've been letting her nap earlier if needs be) - usually into carseat and out in the car/walk...until 12.30/1 depending on when she went to sleep.  She can be very tricky to wake - I try to let her wake up herself but unwrap and blankets etc or make a little more noise around her!

S 2.30 - could be in her cot or pram.  This is usually a tricky one to get her to go to sleep for/stay asleep etc.....and now it all goes wrong from here on in!

The early evening cat nap sometimes works sometime doesn't.  Then I try to get her to sleep at 7ish in her cot.  She's too tired for a bath at this point.  Then wakes up about 8/8.30 and she pretty much wants to feed all evening until the dream feed (haha she's not doing too much dreaming at this point!) So I feed her, change her nappy, give her some more food and then she falls asleep (then I move her to her cot, swaddled). She will sleep until about 3/4am, have a bit of milk but not a full feed (she's very sleepy) and then I put her back into her cot all swaddled.  Then she seems to be in light sleep/waking up every hour until the morning - thrashing about! She will wake up and want to get out of her cot (ssh pat - although I do ssh and rub her back as I think this seems to work better for her) and then she has a bit of milk and goes back into her cot. I am demand EBF and I am exhausted!

Please someone guide me on how to fix this wacky routine I have going on here!

Thanks so much!

Uh I just lost my post!
Welcome to the boards :)

First your doing great! 10 EAS is still pretty young and I wouldn't be too worried a out being strict with routine. I your LO wants to sleep 2 hrs I would let her and enjoy the Y time :) if the nap gets silly long or you find she naps all day long then maybe wake to feed etc.

The evening being wakeful is common. A lot of LOs up till ~3 months have a period like this, evening is common. It looks like your doing great! You could try an earlier BT than 7 if you think she's struggling, or try bath a bit earlier in the day.

The 3-4am thrashing could be wind/gas. Does she wind well after feeding? When she wakes every hour do you only shh/pat when he wakes? Often they thrash a little in their sleep YK?

Hugs, and your doing great!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I feel much better
It's hard when you look at the routine and think oh my lo ought to be doing this that a the other.  I'll keep going and work on the burping in the night!!

work on the burping in the night!!
This made such a huge difference for us too -- it's so easy to forget when you just want to get back to bed, but spending a little bit of time getting good burps up makes a big difference!

Hugs, it's about this age exhaustion sets in doesn't it :( can you maybe express a little milk and get DH to do the DF and head to bed a bit earlier?

Re burping. I would put my ds1 over my shoulder and he would fall asleep on it during winding. If you struggle to get wind up a bit of gripe water may help too Hun x

We had a much better evening...I put Anna down at 8.30 pm and did the dreamfeed. She's now just fed again at 2am...... She was nuzzling round looking for food when I tried the ssh pat so I got her up and fed her. I'm sure she will wake again in 3 hours for more milk. Oh I am so tired!! Thanks for your help.

(((hugs))) - I had to force myself to go to bed early some nights (when LO went to bed) and have dh wake me for the df.  It's not fun because you feel like you have no time for yourself, but the sleep really helps.
