Is it time to go from 3 naps to 2?
« on: March 01, 2013, 15:30:50 pm »
My LO is 7 1/2 months now and we have been on the same routine since he was about 4 months:
E- 7:30
S-9:30
E-10:30/11
    solids 11:45
S-12:30
E-1:30/2
S-4 (catnap usually only 20-25min)
E-4:30
   solids 5:45
S- in bed by 7:30 (sleeps through the night)

This routine has worked really well for us but for the last few weeks, LO has been taking short naps (15-30min).  If I leave him he may settle back down a bit after 10-15min but sometimes not.  He goes down usually with no fuss and is asleep within 5 min.  Are these short naps a sign that his A time needs to be increased thus removing that late afternoon nap?

Hi mloa, at 7.5 months, you should consider moving from the 3 hour EASY to a 4 hour EASY.

The Activity time for a 6-7month old is 2.75-3 hours so as you suspected, this could be increased. You could try extending this for 15 minutes for 3 days at a time. See this link for details of average A times. Average A times and "Is my baby ready to increase A time?"

The typical sleep times are on this link and it does suggest that your LO could be on 2 naps. Typical Amounts of Day and Night Sleep

Anyone want to talk about the 3-2 Nap transition?
