It's over
« on: February 26, 2013, 20:07:09 pm »
I gave my boy his last feed yesterday morning.  :-\ Didn't offer it today and he wasn't bothered about it at all, so I guess that's that. Mostly I am fairly happy about it - it did feel like the time had come, and he has been losing interest for a while, so it has mainly been for my benefit over the last couple of months - but I do feel a bit sad too. I fell pregnant with dd1 7 years ago, and in that time I have been pregnant or breastfeeding the whole time, so it really is the end of an era.  :'( I am ready to be done with the whole baby/toddler thing, and I so looking forward to when they are all as old and rational as m, but I have loved the last 7 years so much it is a little hard to let go.

Anyway, I just wanted to share and say a quick thank you to the ladies here who have helped me out on many occasions. It has been much easier to carry on feeding for as long as I have with the support of other mums doing the same thing - none of my friends has fed for as long, and I don't think any of them really gets it.

Big HUGS - it's totally normal to feel a bit down when stopping BF - you get another hormone slump like you do after you've given birth. Be kind to yourself :-*

{{{Hugs}}}  You did a great job, and it's hard coming to the end of an era.  It's worth stopping and remembering and feeling a bit sad!  I felt the same when I stopped feeding Zach - I'd spent 7 years pg or bf too.  Little did I know I'd be doing it all over again!  I only hope our end is so peaceful - I have a feeling it might not be!

I know what you mean about other mums not really understanding.  When it's been part of your life, rather than a few weeks of early babyhood, it's quite a different thing.

Hugs. What a great start you have given all your LOs. Be proud and allow yourself to feel sad too for a bit. And look forward to all the fab things to come.

When a one door closes another one opens up. A new phase, new beginnings.
