Hi there,

I can't seem to get out of this! :(

My DS STTN but wakes around 5am for a feed. I feed him and he wakes for the day about 7/7.15am. But my problem is then he is due his nap the same time he is due his next feed! About 9am ??? I have had advice before and tried to feed him less at the 5am feed, but he ends up crying when it finishes as he wants more. (he would take 8oz). I have tried to feed him when he wakes, but he refuses to take it as he is not hungry! Can you suggest anything that might help? Or should I just accept it this way for now? It wouldn't last forever right? I just fear that feeding him so close to naps he will get used to it. I never feed to sleep, he is always awake when he goes down.

I would try a top up feed of 4 ozs to see him through the nap and see if you can get back on track a bit over the day.

We had this too... so frustrating!

We get this too ::) especially when T short naps or feeds early then sleeps only 1 hr to WU ::)
I tend to fudge it with two smaller bottles 3 hrs apart then go 4 after that...but we're a mess some days so prob not good advice!

Hi Kara,

Tried to top him up when he wakes but he refuses it until about 8.30am. Still close to his nap but I suppose it's better than nothing! I've been feeding at 11am, 3pm and 7pm to try and be some way consistent! Will see over the next few days if we can stick to it. And I'm dropping his 5.15am feed down by an ounce a day. Hopefully that'll help too! What do you think? ???

That's how i weaned the 4-5am feed ;)  DD was at 5 ozs, I reduced by an ounce every two days... after a day at 3 ozs, she wasn't waking anymore...

We're ok. Wouldn't mind less of a battle at BT, but YK baby steps ;)
