EAES - snacking or low milk supply?
« on: March 06, 2013, 10:19:49 am »
Hiya. My son is 14 weeks old and huge...he's 15lb 8oz and on 91st percentile for length. My question is he resists EASY and can only do EAESY. It's as if he can't take more than 3oz at a feed so can't last 3.5 or 4 hours between feeds. It's a struggle getting the E to last 3 hours.

Is doing EAESY okay? I'm worried he will link feeding to sleeping...but I wonder if I have low milk supply?
Thanks in advance

I gather that you are BF, right?
It's normal for BF to need to feed more frequently, and some babies need a top up rather than a feed before S. If you are concerned that he will associate feeding with sleeping you can have a little bit of A time after the second feed, even just a nappy change to make sure he goes down awake.
If weight gain is ok and your ped. is pleased then I wouldn't worry about it right now, he will be able to space the feeds more as he grows older.

How long is he awake before he goes down for a nap?
