what to do with the rest of the day?
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:41:22 am »
Well a combo of short napping yesterday and teething and i think a cold lead us to NW'ings last night from 10-10:20 12:10_12:45 and 5:20 to 6:00. I let him sleep and he woke at 7:30 but his usual day is 6:30-7:30 so not sure how to keep BT intact? Usually he does
wake 6:30/6:45
S: 10:15/30-12:15/12:30
S: 4-4:30
BT 7:30
Wakes around 4:30 or 5:30 i shush back to sleep the earlier the wake up easier it is.

Two options really - either pd for first nap at normal clock time (accepting lie-in was probably a catch up) and see what happens.  If you get a normal nap length, carry on with day as normal, if short, do what you'd normally do if LO short-naps.  The alternative is to keep normal A time so nap at 11.15, hope for normal length nap then skip CN and do EBT, or do very short CN 15 mins and normal BT.  What do you think?

He's not a tacker so I don't think EBT is a good idea? Would you go for the normal set nap time or do a Full A? He usually short naps after a less than full A time. Thanks so much for your thoughts. I guess I could go for Full A and hope for a long nap then do super short CN. Still fighting these sort of NW sort of EW's. Usually just the one somewhere between 4:20 and 5:30 is what I get.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure what I was thinking made sense.

You know him best :). If EBT doesn't work for you then I'd go for one of the options that gets you to a normal BT.  If you normally have set naps I'd tend to say stick with that time, but I can't promise he won't short nap.  No crystal ball here I'm afraid!

No we don't do set naps it's just "usually" around that time. I stick with A time usually so whatever time he wakes up 3hr 45min after that. I'll probably just do that. :)

Just wanted you TLS know be did a great 2be nap then a 20 min cat nap from 4:40 to 5. BT was 7:45. But he woke at 3:30 and got him back to sleep at 4. He woke again at 4:18. I could not get him back to sleep. Wasn't crying but rolling around moaning simetines chatting. I'm so exhausted at this point that at 4:40 I give up and rock him. He woke again at 6:20 but I could tell he was tired as he's rolling around with his eyes closed moaning and whining. So here I am again jn the bad habit of rocking him. He's teething and has a cold but now his mornings going to be all wacky again so not sure what to do.

Just do what you can honey, that's all any of us can do.  If he's teething and has a cold that could definitely explain some of those wakings.  Do you give meds?  Have you got the mattress on an incline?

I know I'm really just venting. you've all given me great advice he's just a tough one to crack I guess. I do give him meds at bt and when he woke the second time I did.
