Side sleeper
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:31:50 pm »
So dd is 3 weeks today and I think we are boarderline refluxer and will be discussing that with the ped on Monday.  My problem is now is that dd seems to prefer her side to sleep on.  Last night she cried from 7-9 and finally fell asleep then woke at 10:30.  I fed her and it took me till midnight to settle her and I ended up putting her on her side in the sleep positioner (I know not good) and patting her butt till she fell asleep.  I then waited 10 minutes and slid the positioner apart so her head was still turned but her back was flat.  Right now she is in the pack n play for her first nap downstairs and she is on her side and I wrapped a blanket around her and bunched it in the front so she couldn't roll that way and put her back to the wall of the pack and play.  What do I do with a 3 week old who prefers her side and her belly to her back?  And here I thought this one would be easy lol.

Is she in the room with you? can you bring her in with you (to your room- not your bed)? Just that if she's in with you the risks involved with side sleeping/tummy sleeping may be counterbalanced?

I'd discuss it with your ped too - obviously the general advice is for back sleeping, but many refluxers do prefer to sleep on their side or tummy.  Your ped should be able to assess the risks for you and advise you about the safest way for your LO to sleep comfortably.

She is in the bassinett in our room at night and the pack and play is in our main living area.  I had to move her to the bassinet as the noise was too much for her (spirit dd1) I can see her on video monitor and as of righ now she's only got and hour and 15 minutes before she needs to eat again so hoping she sleeps alittle or  else my day is going to suck more then it does now.
