5 month old 3-2 nap transitioning?
« on: March 17, 2013, 01:06:35 am »
My LO is 5 moonths and lately she's been refusing her afternoon CN. Has the 3 to 2 come already?
Does anybody find that BT is earlier when they transition?

thanks

Hello ;)

If she refuses that CN for a more than a couple of days, yes.  Welcome to the 3-2 ;)

Here is the support thread with mommas in the same phase - good to bounce ideas around.  Anyone want to talk about the 3-2 Nap transition? Part 2

What does your day look like now?  When is wake up and how are your other two naps?

BT will often move forward when the CN goes.

She's been very unlike herself as of late. Really hard to settle for naps. And not taking long naps anymore! Is this the period where crappy naps start? She only mastered 2hr awake times consistently last week on a 4hr routine.

Days have been like this:

E 7am
A
S 9.15
Awake 9.40
S 10.00
E 11.00
A
S 13.15
Awake 14.00
S 14.20
E 15.15
A
E 18.00
BT 18.30

Usually she gets really tired by 17.00 but refuses to CN just constantly rubbing her eyes and starts whinging at around 18.00. Or sometimes she'll decide she'll want to stay up for 3hrs after her 2nd nap and then a 30min CN at 5ish. But still goes down at 18.30 regardless.

Does this seem okay?

Could be teething? This messes with sleep.
How long was her A with the long naps and how long has she been on 2 hrs A.
Usually LO is on a longer A before dropping the CN, but if naps are long then it's not always the case.

Are you resettling in the naps? - I would def try an A increase and see if it helps.

Her morning A time is usually 2.15mins all the rest are usually 2hrs besides from when she decides to not want to nap at all which she usually last for about 3hrs.

I do resettle when she wakes up earlier but even after resettling she doesn't sleep longer still.

If she doesn't resettle, she's UT for sure... that said, if she short naps you need to reduce her following A time to keep OT at bay.

We are attempting 2 naps on 2.5-2hrs45 A ATM and the day looks like this
WU 6.30
Nap 9.05-10.45
Nap 1.30-3.30
BT 6.15/6.30

We're not on day 2 but I'm aping if I have to resettle did it doesn't work (if I can ie ds1 not around) and I'm using EBT.

She sounds UT to me too Hun :-*

So I've managed to extend her A time to 2hr20mins consistently for 4 days now. Sometimes she'll take a CN either at lunch or evening.

Also, does it really matter when she does the long naps because I've been doing this for past two days ( been out and about) but I'm scared it's mucking up with her BT sleep .. Although it could be a wonder week she's experiencing as well.. (clingy, crying during her BT routine, not STTN.. etc.etc)

wu 6.45am
E 7am
A
S 9.05am
E 10.45
A (out to the shops ,she naps in the pram)
S 12.30
Awake 1.10
E 14.15 ( no idea if I'm doing this part right because she's due for a feed at 14.45 & nap.. so i figure I just feed her earlier)
S 15.30
Awake 16:45
E: 17.45 (last feed before BT)
BT: 18.30 (despite sleeping a long stretch in the afternoon she wants to go down at this time)

If I don't go out she usually has a long 2nd nap & then a CN (if shes willing). When i did this I use to cluster feed her at the start of her last Awake time and then last bottle 45mins prior to BT. But because shes been switching the long naps these couple of days i've just stop cluster feeding her.. found she was okay to wait or do you think i should still cluster feed when she wakes? I hope she doesn't get confused with EAS routine.

Your day looks fine, just remember though if you do the CN in the middle of the day then the next A can come forward if she will allow it,and after a long nap late pm she may start to need need a full A soon.

If she starts to fight Bt, or the CN gets too late you may be hitting the 3-2
