twin boy help
« on: March 30, 2013, 21:38:27 pm »
Hi
I have a friend with twin boys age 10 1/2 months. Her boys are not great sleepers at all during the night and she wants to do CIO soon because she is exhausted form lack of sleep for months. I wonder if anyone can take a look at the boys schedule and see if you have any advice which I can pass on to help her try the baby whisperer way!!
I will start off saying they were born at 38 weeks at 2.5kg and are now about 11.5 kg each! They are huge babies (mostly because they have alot of night bottles!
They wake up at 6am and have breakfast.
They then play until 9 30 when they have a nap till 11 or 11 30. They have something small for lunch and another bottle and more playing and then bath time at 5, wind down and in bed by 6. They then wake up throughout the night and if they dont self settle on their own within a few mins or dont want their dummy then they get another bottle each time they wake which can sometimes be every hour. This happens throughout the night and then they are up at 6. The bottle is a prop, they nap and sleep with it only.
They have been ff since about 3 months and dont eat so much solids.
Where would you start with something like this?
thanks!

Hi there! SO glad you are offering her hoping to help her find an alternative! BW ( as you probably know) does not support any sort of CIO. Here are some links that might help her understand why we don't.

Research on why 'cry it out' and 'controlled crying' is NOT recommended!

Am I correct in seeing that they have just one nap? If this is right they are awfully young to be on just one nap.. that is a VERY long A to bed and could well be contributing to the NW. Here is some info on the 2-1 nap trainsition

10/ 11mo sleep gone wonky? Read this first!

Also some sample routines for 10-11 months LO's. Most of them are handling *around* 4 hours A, so that 6 hours at the end of the day is probably a bit much

It does sound like the bottle is a prop.. there are a couple ways to go about helping them find another way to go back to sleep. Not sure if she has help at night but as there are two of them ( brave Mama!!) perhaps more of a Gentle Withdrawal method is best....Here is a link to check that out.

Gentle removal plan

I am so glad you are trying to help her find another way to help her boys. I am sure she is exhausted but we would be glad to support her and answer any questions along the way to more independent sleep!! Or you of course!! Hope this helps!!
