Yea. So HTTJ didn't seem to work as well today. Several times she slept a few minutes after I left her, then woke up and cried.....after I had been in there holding her arms for 20 minutes.  :(
It's crazy. She goes to sleep for night time and stays asleep until she needs to eat. And for the first nap of the day she sleeps two to two and half hours. For that nap I am sleeping beside her, but at night I put her down and go out and do other stuff and she stays asleep. What is up with that? If she needs help transitioning, wouldn't she need it all the time??? Why only for several naps a day, but not first nap or night?
Also I can't seem to get her to go to sleep after her last A time without at least 2 and a half hours A time. Would that be related to not having enough A time the rest of the day?

Babies treat day sleep and night sleep in a whole different way, so it's very common for a baby to master one of the two first ;).
She probably has a problem transitioning because her A time is not totally accurate. But I would still recommend to continue with HTTJ for a few more days, it's not something that is working in day and not even two.
Some babies need their last A to be longer than the rest, it's ok. It doesn't necessarily mean something about the entire A.

How will I know if HTTJ is working?
Today was such a bad day! Her first nap was good....two hours....with no intervention from me. Second nap went all to pot. Slept a 1/2 hour, screamed for a half hour and finally I got her up.  :( I worry constantly that she isn't getting enough to eat, and she usually only screams like that when she is hungry. She ate so badly all day that I felt bad for her.

Maybe she was OT for the second nap? If you think she goes down hungry for naps then you can try and give a top up in the middle of the A.
Do HTTJ for a week or so for every nap and then stop and see what happens.

So here is the giant mystery! Yesterday I went to my sisters again, so she had her mid afternoon nap there. She slept an hour and a half before waking. Today we had to go there again to do some work. She slept three straight hours without waking!! :o What is up with that?? It doesn't sound like she has trouble transitioning to me. The biggest thing I noticed about all those naps at my sisters that were long was that we were at about 2 hours and 5 minutes A time, because by the time we got there she was over her normal A time. Any suggestions about why she sleeps at my sisters, but wakes up at a half hour at home??
Her first nap of the day here is always good. She sleeps two to three hours. The other two....not so good.

It could be that the 30min naps you are getting at home are UT and not OT like they'd be for most babies. I would think you can try and up her A gradually to 2h and see if that helps. And IIWY I wouldn't let her nap more than 2-2.5h, it might steal from her night sleep.

Yea. I'm working on upping her A time. She's at 1 hour 45-50 minutes now. So not too far to go.  ;D
She slept great last night, so I guess that long nap worked....but she only had two naps yesterday. Once 2 hour in the morning and one 3 hour in the afternoon, and then she was up three hours after her last nap because I had to go to town and she stayed with my sis. I think maybe she is advanced for her age. Maybe she is doing things an older baby would do?

I think very few babies can cope with long A and long naps for a while. Usually after two-three days it turn into OT.

I thought I would update this...In case anyone else is reading this.  :D I am still dealing with night wakings some, but probably nothing unusual. I tried tanking up and then shh/pat one night and I got her to go from 11 to 6, so I think we are going to be making progress in that area.
As far as naps, I am so happy. She suddenly is taking a 1 1/2 hour nap in the morning, and 2 hour nap in the afternoon, and 1/2 hour c/n before bed. She is most usually not waking up at all in those naps.  ;D I attribute the wakings I was having to OS. After a lot of reading in the book, I decided to have a longer wind down routine. I make sure I also do calm activities for about 10 minutes before wind down.
