We have a regular table fan and it does not affect room temperature at all. You just point it to the wall.  :)  There is no breeze, no cold, nothing.  When we turn it around in summer it is lovely, but for 10 months of the year, it faces the wall and you can't notice it is on.

Our fan faces the wall too, but it is super dusty and dirty and I can't figure out a way to open it up to vacuum it.

There are little sort of hinge clips that hold the guard together over the fan on our new one, is there anything like it on yours so you could open it up?

Yep, ours faces the wall too, hence the no difference in temp like Mashi says. I guess I should have pointed that out in my first post. :P

Nope, it is not an oscillating fan, is a floor fan, kind of like this, except bigger.

Hmmmm, that does look tricky to clean!

Fan worked really well at BT so fingers crossed it works through the night. Thankyou for all the posts.

I use air purifiers (allergies in this household).
