Waking in the middle of naps
« on: April 13, 2013, 09:41:02 am »
Hi.  My DD is 1 day shy of 4 months now.  A few weeks ago we were getting short naps which we thought was because we had just weaned her swaddle, but then I thought she might need an increase in A time because she was waking up super happy and chatting away to her mobile for half an hour before going back to sleep after about half an hour.

So we moved her to 1hr45mins of A time and that sorted the short naps for a few days.  Then she started waking again after about 45 mins for about 15 / 20 mins.  We have just tried an increase in A time to 2 hours and she woke a bit again after 45 mins.

However, now when she wakes she just rolls partially onto her side, sucks her fingers on one hand and covers her face with the other hand.  Then she lays quietly like that for 15 mins or so with her eyes kind of half open before going back to sleep.  Is this ok / usual?  Will her naps still be restorative if she is awake for a bit in the middle but the total length is about 1.5 or 2 hours?  I don't think we can really push her A time anymore - maybe we need to stick at 2 hours for awhile and see what happens?

She has just started rolling over from back to front so not sure if she is trying to practice in her cot but can't make it all the way!

It's GREAT that she's putting herself back to sleep. I wouldn't worry at all.
