Standing/kneeling at naps and bt
« on: April 09, 2013, 12:32:14 pm »
My dd just turned 1 last week. We have been on a good patch for several weeks after a long go of ews. She has been sick with an ear infection then a cold and suspected teething. Lots of drool but can't see much. We were also getting afternoon nap fights. I went back to set naps and bt and it has been really great. With the ear infection I was rocking for sleep as she was in so much pain then I was ap in car or rocker the pm nap. So I guess 1.5 weeks ago she sorta seemed agitated by the rocking and just put her down and she went to sleep on her own again and that was the end of it. 4 days ago she started standing/kneeling once I put her down. I walk out and she mantras/wimpers for 30 seconds lays back down and goes to sleep.  Is this a sign our routine needs a tweak or just a new thing she is doing? She just started some independent walking too. Sleep is still good

It's fine, just working on her motor skills. Very normal. And excellent that she's lying herself down and getting herself off to sleep!

I was hoping you were right but on Thursday and Friday we had horrible days :(
She usually falls asleep within 5 mins of being put down especially am nap. It has taken 10-15 mins in the am...babbling raspberries etc. Then sleeping 1 hr 15 min. Both days pm nap has been brutal!! 20 mins of babbling and then crying and me doing wiwo. Sleeping 25-30 mins waking up still tired then I have ap a bit more sleep to get to bt. We are def teething. I actually took her to the doc yesterday as she is pulling on both ears so much I thought ear infection but nope. Lots of drool!!
Our set naps were like this
W 615/630 sometimes later
S 1030 - 12
S 330-430
B 730

Beginning of the week we have started getting ew of 520/545 ish with some talking then falls back asleep for a bit. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to do A times. My anxiety can't handle it to be honest. Before the ear infection then the cold we did try 1 nap for 4 days and it went ok. I think we had 2-3 hr naps but then had a 2 hr NW of sit stand lay and acting crazy which made me think she wasn't ready so we went back to 2 naps as that last day she also napped 2.5 hrs and woke crying and fell asleep in my dh arms. I don't know if cuz of illness the routine worked cuz she needed more sleep or what? We are doing more walking everyday and still have a cough that is very active at naps and nights. Same with my cough :(
She is prone to ew if things aren't just right. They are always happy and I leave her till 630 not unles crying. She is usually a happy baby so I think the ew is hard to figure if ot or ut.
What should I do?
Nap at 11?? For as long as she likes?

Nap at 11 sounds good, you could do long am nap and a shorter catnap pm (just to get you through to bedtime) or keep the am nap at 10.30 and cap it at 45 mins, and then a longer pm nap.
