Probiotic yogurt
« on: June 08, 2013, 16:44:07 pm »
My lo is 13 weeks old and I currently give her a probiotic powder in her milk.  It is however pretty pricey.  I was wondering can I give her a probiotic yogurt instead?

No, she is too young for solids. The WHO dont recommend starting solids until 26wo. Plus I think it unlikely a baby could eat enough yogurt to get sufficient levels of the probiotic anyway.

And the probiotics in a yogurt are not typically those an infant would get from a probiotic powder aimed at infants (Bifidobacterium infantis & bifidum) so wouldn't do the same job.

Thanks I didn't even think of the amount shed need to have to get the right amount.  Ok well stick to the powder now.
