later BT, later WU?
« on: August 06, 2013, 06:24:35 am »
I stupidly messed up my DDs naps yesterday and she ended up UT and going to sleep late, we then got a later WU of 7am instead of her usual 5-6am WU. Would pushing her day forward an hour work to try keep her at a 7am WU? Im pretty sure her EW isnt OT, she only seems to need 10.5 hours a night :-( has anyone sucessfully pushed their LOs routine to a more reasonable hour?

Yes, but you need to make sure you adjust nap too because if there is too long A time before bedtime, that can lead to overtiredness and early wake ups. How old is she? My dd had 10.5 hrs night and 1.5 hr nap only around age 2 bu then again, all babies are different. I wouldn't do the whole hour at once, try in 15 min increments every 3-4 days

So basically id need to adjust lunch, nap, dinner too?
Would it be a bad idea to just do it in one go? Because her WU was the time we desire this morning.
Shes nearly 13 month's, I know 10.5hrs seems to little but nothing we have done has made her sleep any longer, tried EBT, 1 nap, 2 naps, shorter days, longer days but it seems its just how she is.

What is she doing at the moment? I would be careful doing the whole hour at once... its a bit like when we adjust them to daylight savings changes... i used to start with the 1st nap and snack, lunch and dinner times i changed as well. Is she still taking 2 naps?

Sometimes she has 2, it depends on her WU and how shes slept in the night. I try to stick to one of these routines -

WU - 6
Nap - 12
BT - 6.30

WU - 5
Nap - 9.15 - 10 (sometimes I will cap at 30min if I don't think shes really tired)
Nap - 1.30
BT - 6.30

Ideally we would love a 7am WU, 8 would be nicer but im not going to be greedy lol
