Ugh, I can't believe that my mat leave is almost over and I'll be back at work next Monday  :'(.  DD is almost 11 months and still bf 4 x per day.  She's a good eater.  I'm still planning on bf her until she's at least a year (morning, late afternoon and before bt).  If I start to wean the mid day feed, should I just drop that feed altogether (ie. not bf at that time on weekends when I'm home)? Or can I still feed her mid day on the weekend?  Not sure if that's confusing for her or not.  How quickly will my boobs adapt to that kind of schedule?

Also, she has a cold at the moment (runny nose and a bit of a fever) so I don't want to drop any feeds until she's better.   Not sure how much time I should take to drop her feed without feeling uncomfortable at work (or having to use nursing pads at work or pump at work  :P).  TIA

I went back to work when dd2 was 8ish months old and we ended up just dropping the midday feed completely -- I was mildly uncomfortable for a few days, but nothing dramatic that required pumping or anything of the sort.  I'd definitely tuck nursing pads in your bra the first few days just in case.

It totally depends on your body. I didn't get any discomfort when we dropped any feeds, but others do find they get engorged.

She should get used to whichever route you pick. Some just drop it altogether and others do weekdays and weekends differently.

Yeah I can't remember how many feeds we were on when I went back to work but DD then 9mos had a bottle of formula on days I was at work and I fed her those feeds on days I was home. It didn't seem to phase her at all and actually she probably wouldn't have missed that midday bottle at all.

I fed her in the mornings, when I got home and then at bedtime by that point so yep, 4 feeds but 3 from me on days I worked. Hope your return to work goes ok x

Thanks ladies.  I think I'll try the mid day feed when I'm home and see how it goes.  She does seem to like bf, much more than my DS did.
