2 years 4 months - ready for a bed?
« on: August 10, 2013, 05:32:43 am »
Hi all,

LJ has been kicking her cot bars quite a bit when she goes into her cot at bt and has now said that she doesn't like the bars. We have talked to her about sleeping in a bed (got a cot bed) and she wants to.

She has been napping in mummy and daddy's bed for a few months now - her room has been so hot in the daytime with this weather! She gets on well. She never gets out of the bed and mostly just lies there, occasionally moving around.

We've said we will give her a bed this morning, but I'm worried about it. We've moved most things on when LJ has made the decision - pillow, duvet, losing her grow bag - and all good so far. Only problem is we've been having a lot of rough nights with her months on end. Lots of night wakings, struggling to settle most of the time. Should we wait until she is having better nights or could this be the improvement we need - along with routine tweaking of course!

What thinks you? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts xxx

That's a toughie. We moved Ruby to a cot bed because we had to- a successful escape bid left us worrying shed do it again and hurt herself.it was just before get 2nd birthday.

I think though if your lO is ready and has thus far taken lead (and it's worked) then why not give it a try? It may help with the night disturbances, who knows. I'd go with your gut feeling - do you think moving yet is the right thing? I say that because in my heart of hearts I knew it was the right thing for Ruby but struggled with the thought if her in a BGB albeit her cot with the side off!!!

Moved e to bed at 22months as he was waking 'stuck'. he was a poor biggt sleeper. The bed improved his sleep after a few nights of adjustment. he still wakes occasionally in the night xx

Thank you, both!

Well I decided to go with my gut feeling which was to do it and that she is ready. lJ watched Daddy transforming her cot into a bed the morning I posted (Sat) and was not happy about going down for her nap. Went eventually though and settled much better for bt. Needed daddy there, but we will do GW if necessary! STTN last night, but had done the previous night in her cot too. Fx it all goes well tonight as well. Watch this space!

Was just worried as I've read that if you do it too early it comes back to bite you on the bottom. Too late now though, decision made lol!

Thanks for asking, H. Nights not too bad, although struggling to settle at night. Was like the before though and suspect it is a routine issue, but not one I am having any luck at sorting out. Need to post really, but not got round to it.

STTN first night, fell out twice on second night. Not that she was bothered, just snuggled up on the floor. Third night one nw and wanted water. Fx for tonight. N bed already after a no nap day xxx
