Last night...
« on: October 20, 2013, 18:32:49 pm »
My babies (5 & 3yo) stayed away from us for the first time ever at DH's brother's house with his wife and their 3 boys, who the girls adore. Their DS3 is the exact same age as DD2 and has never had a dummy. Consequently dd2 announced yesterday that she did NOT want to take her dummies for her sleep over and got extremely cross with me for suggesting I pop them in the bag JIC. Needless to say I did sneak them into the bag, I wasn't about to combine dummy weaning and first ever sleep over!! I explained the situ to SIL and said obviously we are fine with her having them if she wants, then didn't think much more of it.

Got to B&SIL today and true to her word DD2 did not ask for her dummy last night  :o SIL said she herself had forgotten all about it so didn't mention it, DD2 didn't mention it. And she STTN without a peep. I am *speechless* That kid adores her dummy and hasn't gone one night without it in 3y4m. So tonight we put them all in a bag, she posted them out our front door and when we checked a few mins later sure enough the dummy fairy had collected them (I gave her a ring to let her know they were there) And tomo DD2 and I will go and buy her a dolly for being such a big girl.

Here's the thing: I haven't put her to bed yet!! She slept in the car at 5pm so isn't tired yet. I am really hoping she drops off without too much of a fuss, and more importantly STTN!!!!

Any vibes for my clever girl appreciated :)

Sleepy vibes for a clever girl!

My DD was just about that age when the dummy fairy took hers away - she did really well at bedtimes but did want them for a couple of mornings after on wake up. A toy the dummy fairy said she could choose helped though ;)

Laura I remember that-your DH did it when you were away didn't he?!
Thanks MJ and Mashi. I have put her to bed and she whined a bit before stories but I let her play on my phone in bed as a treat. She is quiet now but not asleep so who knows what will happen...!

Thanks Bex :)
Well when I first put her to bed she clearly wasn't tired enough (after the 5pm nap) so I wended up bringing her back down so dd1 could sleep, then when I took her back up (prob half 9 by that point) she did not make a peep, didn't mention the dummy at all and STTN til I had to wake her at 7.45 ;D I don't doubt that she will mention it and make a fuss tonight, but ya never know!!

Wow that is brilliant! These LOs don't half surprise you don't they? I was dreading taking it off C and she actually coped fine. We had a bit of a blip on night 3 at BT where she cried and asked for it, so I stayed with her a little while until she calmed down and then no mention of it ever again. Vibes that things keep going so well.
