You could do a bf or solids, whatever you want :)  Mine did better with a milk feed before naps because they didn't like to sit for a solid meal when they were starting to get tired.

So we have had a successful morning yay!
Dd woke at 6.15am. I put her down for her first nap exactly 3.5 hours later at 9.45 ( making sure she had a full tummy). She did not fight this nap at all. She went down and went to sleep within 10 minutes(with me there). She did wake after her normal 35 mins but I managed to resettle her within 15 mins. She slept for about 1 hour 20 total and has woken so much happier!
So from here shall I go off tired signs today or shall I put her down again at a set time for her second nap?
Thank you so much for your help :)

 ;D

I would try 3.5hrs and see what she does for her pm nap with that A time.  Then you can go by tired signs for bed if you can?

Great I'll do that. Fingers crossed she will take the pm nap today.
Thank you so much   :D

So today we managed to get her down for both naps! Second nap was 40 minutes long. I am so pleased. She just seems so much happier. I'm sorry to be a pain but just have another query. Do we do this again tomorrow or do we take it from tired signs from then? I feel terrified we'll end up back where we were before today.
I can't thank you enough for your help!  :)

I would stick with whatever you did today for a few days, then you can decide if you want to keep moving towards one nap by increasing her A time to get a longer nap.  In the past with dd2 if I went completely by tired cues it got too late to put down for nap and she ended up ot, so I try to keep an eye on the clock.

Everything went well over the weekend. We managed to get 2 naps on Sunday as well. The first nap was 1.5 hours long! Monday we APOPed the 2nd part of the first nap due to 30 min nap again and 2nd nap was 30 mins too. Today she only slept for 30 mins again in the am and would not resettle. Has refused 2nd nap so I'm APOPing 2nd nap now too.
I find that if she has a short nap in the am and will not resettle she will completely refuse her 2nd nap. So I need to make sure that first nap is substantial. At the moment I'm still putting her to sleep at 3.5 hours A. Should I extend this or bring it back earlier? Everything seems so precarious like it's going to just fall to pieces again any minute.
Thanks again (and sorry for the ongoing issues).

Ok so if the pm nap is being refused even with a short am nap then either the time your trying A wise is too long/short, or you need to push the first A time to get a solid am nap and offer a short pm CN maybe in the car if that am nap is a bust.

A few options really are
- increase am A to 4 hrs and hold. Try to get a long nap. If nap goes over 1 pm do BT 6pm. If nap is a bust try to APOP a pm one. (Maybe try 2/2.5 hrs if am nap is 30 mins and 3 hrs if it's 40)
- cap that am nap at 30 mins try pm nap 2.5-3 hrs later. You want to aim for a good pm nap, if it's also a bust go EBT of 6 pm.

Have you seen the 2-1 stickies?

Hugs

Yes I have had a good read of those and they are helpful.
Yesterday was a very bad day again and her nights have been getting worse (you wouldn't think they could).  I know it sounds extreme as your meant to transition them but today I decided no more fighting sleep. You can spend so much time in that room putting them to sleep that you feel as though your going crazy! So I kept her up until after lunch. I then put her down at 12.45 and just like that... Has been asleep for over 1.5 hours and counting.  Now I'm not saying that this will be the norm from now but I'm wondering if she maybe just needed to transition and I just haven't picked up on it. I suppose we will find out over the next few day's!
Thank you for your help so far. This has been such a difficult time and I was truly losing faith in my ability to parent this little miss! The support has been amazing!

So glad you had a good day  ;D

I found dd1 was way ahead of me during transitions, I was always holding her back thinking she needed a nap when she didnt.  Dh and I were just talking tonight about when she was in the 2-1 AND learning to walk she was waking every hour at night :(  I was one sleepy momma!  I finally just let her go to one nap, and she really only needed 2 naps if she wasnt feeling well.  I just kept offering cn, let her hang for 30min in her crib, and didnt stress if she didnt take the cn.  It felt so much better to not stress over it and just offer ebt ;)

Same here with both my boys. So scared of OT I often caused it with UT or just plain UT. ::)

Do be aware that even if she is ok for 1 nap days OT can creep in over a few days and you may need to throw in a few 2 nap (one long one CN) days to help. I find EBT works really well though, often better than the CN. X
