going out while on EASY

Hello Everyone!

My little love is on a fairly good EASY routine ranging from 3-3.5hrs. My question is, and its silly i know, WHEN do most of you go out to run errands with your LO during your easy routine? I don't want to go during his awake time because he falls asleep while he should be up.... also, i worry if i go when he should be napping that he wont do his full nap..
I know, probably over-thinking it.

I would get everything ready to go while he's sleeping and whisk him out the door when he wakes up so there's less chance of him falling asleep even in the car or buggy.  Either that or time trips with a CN so it doesn't matter if he doesn't sleep for long.  It gets easier as they get older!

We did exactly what Emami is suggesting. Everything would be ready to go, and I'd feed him as soon as he woke, and we'd be out the door (or feed him when we got wherever we were going, depending on the time and place). Or using the cat nap time worked well also.
I eventually figured out that I was too worried about it all though. When you're still trying to establish the routine, it can be tricky when things get messed up, but once it's going smoothly, they get back on track pretty quickly after an occasional upside down day... unless you have a very structure oriented baby.

We don't have any grandparents nearby and can't afford a sitter, so I had to start doing errands with DS when he was about six weeks old (he's 8mo now!)  In the beginning, he used to get very sleepy in the carseat, but never transferred very well.  So, I would do about 30min of errands before his naptime, then come home and immediately begin our wind-down.  A couple times, he fell asleep fairly early into our errands, so I would take the time to do some more while he slept.  It never affected his ability to sleep in his crib, so I didn't worry.  Now, he's so interested in the world that he rarely falls asleep in his carseat, so I do errands with him as soon as he wakes up and eats.

I would encourage you to let your LO tell you what he needs.  Also, I think most of us have begun to over-think things because we just want to do the best for our kids!

I also do what Enami suggested. I get everything ready while she's sleeping, so when wakes I feed her and we're out. I live really close to everything so she  ( usually )doesn't really have a chance to fall asleep again and if she does it's only for ten minutes, I live really close to wherever I have to go.

On the other hand, if I have to somewhere that takes me more than 20 minutes to get there, I time that with her nap.She will instantly fall asleep and stay asleep in her seat for a while. This doesn't happen often, usually once a week and it falls on her catnap at 5h so it works out.

I would add to the above that if you don't have to travel by car and can take the sling even better.  Both my LOs loved looking round and watching the world but would contentedly bury their head in my chest when it was time to go back to sleep.  Makes supermarket shopping a whole lot easier than with a buggy...
