Yes, its ok for him to sleep on his tummy. If this is a new skill, his naps may go wonky too. I use safe-t-sleep, which keeps mine on her back and will take it away when she learns to roll over the other way (i did the same with dd1 and 2). I would try and resettle him on his tummy rather than flipping him back every time so that he gets used to sleeping on his tummy and in different positions.,...and make sure he gets plenty of opportunity to roll during his A time so that the novelty wares off.

With regards to the short morning nap, it could have been a one off or it may be that he wasn't tired enough to sleep longer (needing more A time) or it may be the rolling over.

I'm getting one nap that's around 1 hr 15-30 min and then one catnap of 30-40 mins. So it's real hard to stretch a time and to just get 2 good naps. The third nap rarely happens unless we are in car or in swing or in my arms he might conk out for a quick snooze which helps him get to bedtime. Otherwise he can be up for 4 hrs + before bedtime and sometimes he handles it just fine and goes down for the night or sometimes he gets cranky and goes to bed early. Any other suggestions ?thank you

If he is not taking the 3rd nap, you will need to try and stretch his As so that the A before bedtime isn't so long. Even if you work on extra 5 mins every couple of days. Try and do a longer windown routine, walk around the house and sing him a song... tired signs can be habitual too. He's probably only taking 45min nap because he isn't tired enough to sleep longer. The last A before bedtime is too long and my 8mo doesn't/can't even do that. If you can help him out with the 3rd nap, then I would suggest to continue doing that - as you're pushing the A times to tie him over to bedtime.

I tried a longer wind down routine and stretched the a time today which he willingly did i just followed his cues but the rest of the day was a mess. He woke 730 his first nap was at 10 for 30 mins! The he went down again at 1 for another 30 mins! Ugh so his a times were 2.5 hours which he handled well though. Then he ate at 330 and fell asleep at end of feeding so I tried to put him down in crib and it didn't work. I then tried again around 430-5 for a catnap just to get him through and I couldn't get him to sleep. I tried the crib the swing , my arms nothing worked. I tried to keep stimulation to a minimum as he was ot but by 530 it was too late for a nap. I fed him at 615 and he passed out. He will be awake tomorrow morning at 630 sharp! Today was awful! I've tried everything but there's just no routine or rhyme or reason to his naps. They are all over the place. I've been trying to dedicate time to exercise or get some bills paid or Xmas shopping online and I never know what I'm dealing with. Will it be a quick 30 min nap or a 2 hr nap?! This is so frustrating.

Sorry, I've been away this weekend. How are you going? What A times are you on at the moment? As I said before, if he's fighting the last nap, there is no point in sticking to 2-2.5hrs A time - he probably needs more A to sleep longer :-\. When he wakes from the nap, is he happy or crying? Do you pick him up right away? Could you remind me again if there are any props (dummy? swaddle?). From memory, he was rolling over.. is he still waking himself up when he rolls over? Your A before bedtime is quiet long - does he not sleep in the swing anymore? Could you try rocking him for the catnap?

Hi there :) well the past few days he's been taking 2 naps one that's between 1 hr 1 hr 15-20 min, a 30 min nap and then msybe another 30 min nap in my arms! He also cut his first tooth!!
A day might look like this :

Saturday:

7 wake
730 feed
940-11 nap
1130 feed
150-220 nap
330 feed
5-530 nap in arms
7feed
730 bed

Sunday:
650 wake
715 feed
940- 1045nap
1115 feed
140-215 nap
315 feed
445-515 nap in arms
7 feed
Bed

Sometimes the first nap is only 30 min to an hour. We've stretched A time but the first or second catnap screws up the idea of just 2 naps! Were so close lol to 3 hrs a time!
He also wakes early I hear him around 545 and he's up and sleeping on and off until I get him around 630-7 ish. No props until that last nap that he fights and he's still sleeping through night.

I cut back a time today thinking that maybe he was ot by the second nap and hence the 9 min catnap. So today I put him for nap after 2.5 hours but I got a 40 min nap. Ugh!!

Today I got a 30 min nap for first nap and he was fussy and making this grunting noise all morning ( I think it's the teething ) I fed him and he fell asleep in my arms so I put him in crib. It was only 1.5 after he woke up which he's also never done. Can the teething be what's causing the fussiness and weird napping ?

Yes, teething can cause fussiness and weird napping. Did he cut 1 tooth already? He's probably working on the other one! Does he still sleep well at night?

Yes he cut the bottom right!! Poor baby. He's sleeping fine through the night thankfully ! I'm trying the hylands homeopathic teething tablets I think they might help. I've tried giving him teething rings but he doesn't seem interested. He would rather chew on his bib lol. I'm thinking that the 3 hr wake time 2 nap thing might go out the window while he's teething no?

Two days in row he's taken his first 30 min catnap and then fell asleep during next feed 1.5 hrs after waking from his first nap. So strange. He usually goes 3 hrs in btwn first and second nap. I'm assuming this is from his teething?

When will naps become more predictable ? Sometimes I get a 30 min and sometimes I get an hour or 2 hours ! Some days there are two naps and sometimes there are 3?
